Sam Houston State got off to a fast start and beat UTSA 81-77 in women’s basketball on Sunday at the UTSA Convocation Center.
Sam Houston State built a 28-16 lead at the end of the first quarter and led for most of the game. UTSA caught up in the second hand and led briefly.
UTSA’s Mikayla Woods scored a career-high 32 points. Woods, a freshman guard from Pflugerville Hendrickson, had a double-double with 11 rebounds
Freshman guard Karley Larson had 10 points for UTSA and freshman guard Charlene Mass added 8.
Jenniffer Oramas led Sam Houston State with 20 points.
UTSA fell to 3-6 on the season. Sam Houston State is 4-3.
