The San Diego Padres assigned San Antonio Missions relief pitcher James Reeves to the Triple-A El Paso Chihuahuas on Thursday.
The 27-year-old left-hander made eight appearances on the mound for the Missions and did not allow a run his first seven times out. He had a 1-0 record and 1.35 ERA with 11 strikeouts in 13 1/3 innings.
Reeves was a 10th-round pick by the Yankees in 2015 out of The Citadel. His only previous experience above the Double-A level was one game in Triple-A in 2018. The Padres acquired Reeves in a trade with the Yankees on Jan. 6, 2021.
Reiss Knehr was the San Antonio Missions’ starting pitcher on opening day.
The 24-year-old from New York is the Missions’ scheduled starter in tonight’s road game against Northwest Arkansas. He has made four starts this season and has a 2-1 record and 4.74 ERA with 16 strikeouts in 19.0 innings.
Knehr is in his first season in Double-A. The San Diego Padres picked him in the 20th round of the 2018 draft.
The 6-foot-2 right-hander had a 3-5 record in Class A in 2019 on 12 starts and 17 total appearances. He had a 3-0 record in rookie ball in and 0-1 in Class A 2018 in 20 games, 19 of those in relief.

The 6-foot-2 right-hander has a 3-1 record, second best on the team in wins, and a 6.90 ERA. He has struck out 21 batters in 30.0 innings.
Miller is a freshman from Canton, Texas.
Eguy Rosario is the No. 17 prospect in the San Diego Padres organization, according to MLB.com.
The 21-year-old infielder has played second base, third base and shortstop so far this season for the San Antonio Missions.
Rosario got off to a slow start to the season as a batter, but has four hits in the last three games. He had two hits including a double in the Missions’ 7-5 road victory over Northwest Arkansas on Tuesday night.
A native of the Dominican Republic, Rosario was signed by the Padres as a free agent in August 2015. He batted .278 with seven home runs in Class A in 2019. Rosario was with the Padres major league team in 2021 spring training in Arizona.
Uniform note: Rosario wore No. 19 at the beginning of the season. He changed to No. 1.

The 5-foot-11 right-hander has pitched in 10 games for UTSA this season including two starts. Sonduck has a 6.75 ERA with nine strikeouts in 10 2/3 innings. He appeared in five games in relief in the shortened 2020 season.
Kobe Jaramillo has pitched in 10 games for UTSA this season including five starts.
The 5-foot-11 right-hander has a 1-1 record with an 8.23 ERA. He has struck out 24 batters in 27 1/3 innings.
Jaramillo, a freshman from Bishop, Texas, earned all-state honors in high school.
Jay Ward came to UTSA after pitching the previous two seasons at Wake Forest.
The 5-foot-11 left-hander has appeared in 12 games this season. He has a 0-0 record with a 7.00 ERA. He recorded nine strikeouts in 9.0 innings.
Adrian Martinez is part of the San Antonio Missions’ starting pitching rotation.
The 24-year-old from Mexico has made four starts this season and has a 2.40 ERA with an 0-2 record. He has recorded 14 strikeouts in 15.0 innings. In his last three starts, he has gone four innings each time and allowed a combined four runs.
Martinez had a 7-4 record in Class A in 2019. He doesn’t have any stats from last summer after covid wiped out the minor-league season.
The 6-foot-2 right-hander was originally signed by the San Diego Padres to a minor-league contract as a free agent in February 2015.
