UTSA baseball sweeps CUSA series with Southern Miss: Photo highlights

UTSA won both of its back-to-back Conference USA games against Southern Miss on Friday and Saturday at the Convocation Center.

After the UTSA men’s basketball team lost five of its first six conference games, Roadrunners coach Steve Henson made the change to a bigger lineup on Friday, inserting Adrian Rodriguez into the starting five.

The Roadrunners responded by beating Southern Miss 70-64. Jhivvan Jackson led UTSA with 25 points, Keaton Wallace had 18, Jacob Germany had 11 points, 11 rebounds and 5 blocks, Eric Parrish had 8 points and Jordan Ivy-Curry had 8.

UTSA finished the sweep with a 78-72 victory over Southern Miss on Saturday. Jackson led UTSA with 24 points. Ivy-Curry had 14 points off the bench. Germany had 13 points, eight rebounds and two blocks and Wallace had 12 points.

Eric Parrish made his UTSA men’s basketball debut in a 97-71 victory over UT Permian Basin in the Roadrunners’ season opener on Nov. 27.

Parrish had a team-high 20 points on 7-of-11 shooting from the field including 2-of-4 on 3-pointers and made 4-of-6 free throws. He recorded four rebounds, four-steals, two assists and a block.

The 6-foot-6 guard/forward from Cypress in the Houston area is a junior transfer from Nevada, where he did not play.

Parrish played his sophomore season at Bossier Parrish Community College in Louisiana, where he averaged 18.4 points. He played at Akron as a freshman and averaged 8.9 points.
