UTSA women earn first conference win on Jenkins’ late 3-pointer

UTSA women’s basketball beat UAB 71-68 on Saturday at the Convocation Center for the Roadrunners’ first Conference USA win of the season.

Jordyn Jenkins hit a 3-pointer off an assist from Kyra White with 9 seconds left to break a 68-68 tie. UTSA is 3-8 on the season and 1-1 in Conference USA.

Jenkins, a transfer from USC and the Roadrunners’ leading scorer on the season, finished the game with 13 points.

Sidney Love led UTSA in scoring. The freshman guard from Cibolo Steele High School in the San Antonio area had 23 points.

Kyra White, also a transfer from USC, nearly recorded a double-double. The former star at Converse Judson in the San Antonio area had 10 rebounds, 9 assists and 4 points.

Denim DeShields led UAB with 25 points

UTSA plays its next two games on the road, Thursday, Jan. 5 at Middle Tennessee and Saturday, Jan. 7 at Western Kentucky.

The Roadrunners’ next home game is Wednesday, Jan. 11 against UTEP.
