Both pitching staffs dominated and the Amarillo Sod Squad put together a combined shutout to beat the Flying Chanclas de San Antonio 1-0 on Wednesday night in Amarillo.
The Chanclas had only two hits in the game, both by Porter Brown.
The Sod Squad used five pitchers, with none of them going more than two innings. Sod Squad reliever Zane Badmaev pitched the sixth and seventh innings, struck out two and retired all six batters he faced. He is a 6-foot-8 right-hander from Boerne.
The Sod Squad scored the only run of the game in the bottom of the first inning.
Amarillo has won the first two of the three-game series, which wraps up Thursday night. After that, the Chanclas return home for a three-game series beginning Friday at Wolff Stadium.
