Wolf pitched six innings and allowed one run as the San Antonio Missions beat the Frisco RoughRiders 2-1. Wolff gave up three hits and two walks and struck out five to earn the win and even his record to 7-7.
Wolf is currently the No. 16 prospect in the Padres’ minor league system (according to MLB.com) and is No. 3 left-handed pitcher on the team’s top 30 list.
Edwuin Bencomo made a successful return to the Missions by pitching two scoreless innings in relief. He allowed two hits, no walks and struck out two batters. Bencomo started the season in San Antonio, went down to Class A Fort Wayne on May 23 and pitched in seven games. He was promoted back to the Missions on Saturday.
Kevin Kopps pitched a scoreless ninth inning for his third save of the season. He did not allow a hit or a walk and struck out two of the three batters he faced.
The Missions’ first run of the game came on a Ray-Patrick Didder solo home run in the fourth inning.
Kervin Pichardo accounted for the team’s other run in the fifth. He got on base vi hit-by-pitch and advanced to third on a Cole Cummings single. Pichardo scored on a bad pickoff throw.

Ray-Patrick Didder’s two-run single in the sixth inning put the Missions in front for good.Ray-Patrick Didder drove in two crucial runs in the San Antonio Missions’ 3-2 victory over the Frisco RoughRiders on Thursday at Wolff Stadium.
Didder’s two-run single was part of a three-run Missions rally in the sixth inning. His hit brought in Michael De La Cruz with the go-ahead run and Juan Fernandez with a run that gave the Missions a 3-1 cushion they would need.
Daniel Johnson led off the bottom of the sixth with a single. He advanced to second when De La Cruz walked, then scored the Missions’ first run on a hit by Fernandez to tie the game 1-1.
Frisco took the first lead of the game with a run in the top of the third inning. After the Missions went ahead 3-1 in the sixth inning, the Rough Riders made it close with a run in the top of the ninth.
Relief pitcher Blake Cederlind made his San Antonio Missions debut and got the win. He pitched the top of the sixth inning and allowed no runs, one hit, two walks and two strikeouts.
Missions starter Daniel Camarena had a strong outing but got no decision. He went five innings and allowed one run on three hits and one walk with four strikeouts.
Jose Quezada pitched scoreless seventh and eighth innings for the Missions. Alek Jacob pitched the ninth inning, allowed one run, and got his fifth save of the season.
Justin Farmer also made his Missions debut and played in right field.

The Wichita Wind Surge beat the Missions 8-7 despite 14 San Antonio hits including home runs by Pedro Castellanos and Ray-Patrick Didder. Missions catcher Chandler Seagle had a career-high four hits including his first triple.
Wichita’s Alerick Soularie hit two home runs – a solo shot in the second inning and a three-run homer in the sixth.
Castellanos hit his sixth home run in the season with one on in the seventh inning. Didder hit his first of the season with one on in the bottom of the ninth to get the Missions within one run.
Seagle singled in the second inning in his first at-bat. He tripled in the fourth inning and singled again in the sixth. Seagle’s final-at bat was an RBI single in the eighth that closed Wichita’s lead to 7-5.
Ripken Reyes bunts for a run-scoring hit in the fifth-inning.None of the San Antonio Missions’ run-scoring at-bats were extra-base hits on Friday night.
Instead they piled up 12 hits – including five in the pivotal four-run fifth inning – to beat the Wichita Wind Surge 5-4 at Wolff Stadium.
The Missions’ runs in the inning scored on an RBI single by Chandler Seagle, an RBI bunt single by Ripken Reyes, an RBI single by Tirso Ornelas and a sacrifice fly by Yorman Rodriguez. Ray-Patrick doubled in the frame and later scored, but didn’t drive in a run with his hit.
Wichita, on the other hand, did all its scoring on home runs. Seth Gray had a three-run homer in the second inning and Yunior Severino had a solo shot in the eighth.
Missions starting pitcher Efrain Contreras had a strong night other than Gray’s home run. Contreras pitched six innings to get the win. He allowed three runs on four hits with two walks and two strikeouts.
Missions reliever Lake Bachar pitched 1 2/3 innings and gave up one run on Severino’s homer. That was the only hit given up by Bachar, who struck out one batters. Missions closer Nick Hernandez went to the mound with two outs in the eighth inning and got the last four outs. Hernandez struck out three batters and earned his sixth save of the season.
The Missions’ first run of the game came when Reyes led off the bottom of the first inning with a single, went to third on a Rodriguez single and scored on a ground out by Daniel Johnson.
Reyes finished with four hits including a double and scored twice. Cole Cummings had two hits and scored once. Didder had two hits including his double and scored once.

The San Antonio Missions never led Tuesday night until the final batter of the game.
Tirso Ornelas went to bat with the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth inning and the Missions trailing the Wichita Wind Surge 5-3. Ornelas ripped a line drive to center that drove in Connor Hollis, Ray-Patrick Didder and Ripken Reyes to win the game 6-5.
The Missions’ Pedro Castellanos led off the frame with a walk and was replaced by Hollis, a pinch-runner. Didder walked and then Reyes was hit by a pitch to load the bases.
Wichita scored three runs in the top of the first first inning and two runs in the second inning to lead 5-0.
Yorman Rodriguez hit a solo home run in the bottom of the fourth, his second homer since joining the Missions on May 31. A Cole Cummings ground out drove in a run and Castellanos had an RBI single in the bottom of the sixth to cut the lead to 5-3.
The Missions’ bullpen kept them in the game after the Wind Surge’s fast start. Lake Bachar, Kevin Kopps and Michel Baez (W 2-0) combined to hold Wichita to no runs and two hits over the final seven innings.

The San Antonio Missions trailed for most of the game but rallied for two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to beat the Amarillo Sod Poodles 4-3 on Wednesday at Wolff Stadium.
Ripken Reyes, one of the Missions’ leading hitters on the season, stroked a hit to right field to drive in the winning run.
The Missions put together three hits, a walk and a sacrifice fly in the ninth. The sac fly was the Missions’ only out in the frame, as five straight batters produced strong at-bats.
Korry Howell, who just rejoined the team on Tuesday after being on the injured list, led off the inning with a hit and scored the run that tied the game. Juan Fernandez had the second hit of the inning, and was replaced by pinch-runner Ray-Patrick Didder, who scored the winning run.

INTRODUCING COLE CUMMINGS
Cole Cummings made his Double-A debut on Wednesday as the Missions’ designated hitter. His first at-bat was an RBI single to drive in the Missions’ first run of the game. He followed that with a double in the fith inning.
Cummings had a walk in the ninth inning during the Missions’ winning rally.
The 24-year-old from UC Santa Barbara batted .233 in 18 games at Class A Fort Wayne before being promoted to San Antonio.
Cole Cummings produced an RBI single in his first Double-A at-bat in his Missions debut.

The San Antonio Missions’ Luis Aviles Jr. came through with a two-run double in the second inning.
And then, Pedro Castellanos hit his fourth home run of the season, a grand slam later in the same inning.

And then, the Missions were on their way to a 7-0 lead after seven innings on Saturday night at Wolff Stadium.
And then, the Northwest Arkansas Naturals rallied… and rallied… and rallied.
The Naturals scored three runs in the eighth, four in the ninth, and outscored the Missions 4-3 in three extra innings for an 11-10 victory. Northwest Arkansas scored the go-ahead run on an RBI double by Jose Briceno in the top of the 12th inning.
Contreras, who is rebuilding his career after an injury wiped out his 2021 season, had his best outing of the season in his fifth start and was in line for a win when he left the game. The 23-year-old right-hander pitched five full innings and struck out six batters and had three walks.
Castellanos finished the game with two hits and five RBIs.

Juan Fernandez had only one plate appearance but extended his hitting streak to seven games. He entered the game as a pinch-hitter in the 11th inning and produced an RBI single.
