Jordan finished with 16 points and 10 assists as the Rattlers won their 2021-22 home opener 97-70 over Huston-Tillotson on Saturday.
Josh Brewer led St. Mary’s with 21 points, Kobe Magee had 13, C.J. Washington had 12 and Ryan Leonard had 11.
The Rattlers evened their record to 2-2 with road games coming up against UT-Permian Basin on Dec. 11 and Angelo State on Dec. 13. St. Mary’s plays its next home game on Dec. 18 against A&M-International.
The Rattlers take on Huston-Tillotson at 4 p.m. at Greehey Arena.
St. Mary’s is coming off a 75-65 road loss to UTSA on Monday. The Rattlers trailied most of the game but were within five points with less than three minutes remaining in the game.
Caleb Jordan led St. Mary’s with 17 points, Mamady Djikine had 15 points and 8 rebounds, Kobe Magee 11 points and Emmanuel Ewuzie had 10 points and 9 rebounds.
Longtime head coach Buddy Meyer was at the Rattlers’ helm and Jim Zeleznak was the top assistant coach when they claimed the 1989 championship trophy in Kansas City. Both were former St. Mary’s players. Meyer had been a member of the Rattlers’ first team to reach the national tournament.
All these years later, the St. Mary’s coaching staff has a familar look.
Zeleznak is in his 17th season as the Rattlers’ head coach, having taken over when Meyer retired after 27 years.
Meyer’s son Bubba, who played for his father at St. Mary’s, is in his 21st season as the team’s assistant coach.
And Monday, when St. Mary’s made the short road trip to the north side of San Antonio to play UTSA, Buddy Meyer was in the stands right behind the Rattlers’ bench.
Enzo Sechi, a junior forward from Houston, led the Tigers with 20 points, nine rebounds and four assists.
Brown, a sophomore guard from San Antonio, finished with 14 points. Jacob Harvey, a freshman guard from Huffman, Texas, scored 14 points off the bench.
Henson was introduced as the new head coach at UTSA five years ago today, April 9, 2016.

UTSA won both of its back-to-back Conference USA games against Southern Miss on Friday and Saturday at the Convocation Center.
After the UTSA men’s basketball team lost five of its first six conference games, Roadrunners coach Steve Henson made the change to a bigger lineup on Friday, inserting Adrian Rodriguez into the starting five.
The Roadrunners responded by beating Southern Miss 70-64. Jhivvan Jackson led UTSA with 25 points, Keaton Wallace had 18, Jacob Germany had 11 points, 11 rebounds and 5 blocks, Eric Parrish had 8 points and Jordan Ivy-Curry had 8.
UTSA finished the sweep with a 78-72 victory over Southern Miss on Saturday. Jackson led UTSA with 24 points. Ivy-Curry had 14 points off the bench. Germany had 13 points, eight rebounds and two blocks and Wallace had 12 points.
The 6-foot senior guard from Puerto Rico leads UTSA in scoring this season with 16.3 points per game.
Barring something unexpected, Jackson has nine home games remaining in his UTSA career. UTSA plays North Texas in a Conference USA back-to-back at home at the Convocation Center tonight and tomorrow – Friday, Jan. 8, at 6 p.m. and Saturday, Jan. 9, at 3 p.m.
He played in high school at Montverde Academy near Orlando, Fla. Montverde Academy produced NBA players R.J. Barrett, Ben Simmons and D’Angelo Russell.
Bofinger saw playing time in UTSA’s first four games of the season. He had six points and two rebounds in the season opener, a 97-71 victory over UT Permian Basin.
The 6-foot-2 freshman guard from La Marque recorded six points and six rebounds in 17 minutes in his first college game. One night later, he scored 12 points in an 81-64 UTSA loss to UT Rio Grande Valley.
Ivy-Curry averaged 31.5 points 6.9 assists and 5.9 rebounds as a senior last season at La Marque and earned All-Greater Houston first-team honors.
Parrish had a team-high 20 points on 7-of-11 shooting from the field including 2-of-4 on 3-pointers and made 4-of-6 free throws. He recorded four rebounds, four-steals, two assists and a block.
The 6-foot-6 guard/forward from Cypress in the Houston area is a junior transfer from Nevada, where he did not play.
Parrish played his sophomore season at Bossier Parrish Community College in Louisiana, where he averaged 18.4 points. He played at Akron as a freshman and averaged 8.9 points.
