Chanclas sign three UIW players

The Flying Chanclas de San Antonio announced on Friday they signed three players from Incarnate Word for the 2020 Texas Collegiate League season:

SS Grant Smith, Houston, St. Pius
1B Ryan Flores, Corpus Christi, Carroll
IF Lee Thomas, Katy, Cinco Ranch

Smith led Incarnate Word in batting at .339 in 16 games for the abbreviated 2020 season. Thomas was second on the team in batting with a .328 average. Flores batted .270.

The Chanclas are the entry of the San Antonio Missions for this summer’s college baseball season.

Chanclas sign four TCU players

The Flying Chanclas de San Antonio announced on Thursday they signed four TCU players to 2020 Texas Collegiate League summer baseball roster:

IF Conner Shepherd, Upland, Calif.
OF Porter Brown, San Antonio, Reagan
P Marcelo Perez (RH), Laredo
P Austin Krob (LH), Lisbon, Iowa

The Chanclas are the TCL entry of the San Antonio Missions.

Also on Thursday, the Round Rock Hairy Men announced their 2020 TCL roster, including two players from San Antonio colleges:

P Luke Malone, UTSA, Round Rock
IF Kendall Achilles, Incarnate Word, Cedar Ridge

Freshmen spark UTSA women past UIW

Three freshmen from the state of Texas scored in double figures as the UTSA women’s basketball team beat Incarnate Word 63-56 Monday at the UTSA Convocation Center.

Mikayla Woods, a starting guard from Pflugerville Hendrickson, led the Roadrunners with 12 points and 4 assists.

Adryana Quezada, a starting forward from Frisco Lone Star, had 11 points.

Charlene Mass, from Converse Veterans Memorial, came off the bench at guard and had 10 points.

Macy Ray led Incarnate Word with 10 points. Ray is a sophomore guard from Katy Taylor.

The Roadrunners (2-0) play their next game on the road Thursday against Texas. UTSA is back at home next Monday against University of the Southwest.

Incarnate Word (1-1) plays its next game at home on Nov. 19 against Texas A&M International.

Courtney Walters sets UTSA volleyball record

UTSA freshman Courtney Walters served up seven aces in a volleyball match on Tuesday at the UTSA Convocation Center.

That set a Roadrunners school record for aces in a three-set match.

UTSA beat Incarnate Word 25-16, 25-16, 25-8.
