Flying Chanclas keep soaring at home

The Flying Chanclas de San Antonio remained undefeated at Wolff Stadium with a 6-1 victory over the Round Rock Hairy Men on Sunday.

The Chanclas got eight hits including a triple and double by Lee Thomas of University of the Incarnate Word and a double by Johnny Hernandez of St. Mary’s University.

Chanclas pitchers also had a solid night, limiting the Hairy Men to four hits and only one walk with 10 strikeouts.

Lance Lusk from Sam Houston State started on the mound and went four innings. Lusk (1-0) gave up one unearned run on three hits with five strikeouts and one walk to get the win.

Tyler Flores of Clark High School and A&M-Kingsville pitched three scoreless innings in relief and Connor Schmidt of Devine High School and St. Mary’s pitched the final two scoreless innings.

The Chanclas are off Monday before playing a three-game series in Victoria. The Chanclas are back home Friday, Saturday and Sunday for three more games against Victoria.
