UTSA men’s basketball opens conference play

The UTSA men’s basketball team plays its Conference USA opener at home today.

The Roadrunners take on North Texas at 7 p.m. at the Convocation Center. The game will be televised on ESPN+.

UTS is coming off a 90-69 victory over Bethune-Cookman.

The undefeated Trinity women’s basketball team ran its record to 11-0 with a 78-69 victory over Puget Sound on Wednesday at Calgaard Gym.

Ashlyn Milton led Trinity with 25 points and Claire Hale had 18.

The Tigers, ranked No. 3 in NCAA Division III, are off until a Dec. 29 home game against Schreiner.

Jacob Germany is averaging 11.7 points and a team-high 7.4 rebounds per game. The 6-foot-11 senior center from Oklahoma is one of three UTSA men’s basketball players to start all 11 games so far this season.

DJ Richards was named the Conference USA freshman of the week for the second week in a row.

Richards started four of the UTSA men’s basketball team’s first 11 games of the season. The guard from Houston is averaging 9.5 points per game and is second on the team in made 3-pointers with 24.

Japhet Medor is a senior guard from Florida. He leads the UTSA men’s basketball team with 12.4 points and 3.9 assists through the first 11 games of the season.

It was an interesting morning at Wolff Stadium as the San Antonio Missions’ new ownership group was introduced.

It was also great seeing a lot of the longtime Missions staffers.

Incarnate Word beat Texas Lutheran 84-37 in men’s basketball on Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2022 at the McDermott Center.

Charlie Yoder, a sophomore from Indiana, led the Cardinals with 24 points and seven rebounds. Jonathan Cisse, a junior from Louisiana, had 11 points off the bench.

Incarnate Word (1-2) opened the season with a home loss to North Dakota and a road loss to UNLV. The Cardinals play their next game on the road Saturday against Valparaiso.

Christian Tucker is a 6-foot-3 sophomore guard from Chandler, Arizona.

Tucker played in 25 games as a freshman and made six starts. He averaged 3.4 points, 1.7 rebounds and 1.2 assists.
