Milwaukee Brewers call up pitcher Aaron Wilkerson from San Antonio Missions

The Milwaukee Brewers called up right-handed pitcher Aaron Wilkerson on Tuesday.

Wilkerson was scheduled to be the San Antonio Missions’ starting pitcher in Wednesday’s road game against the Memphis Redbirds.

With the Missions this season, Wilkerson made two starts and had a 1-0 record with an 0.79 ERA. He pitched 11 1/3 innings with five hits, 12 strikeouts and two walks.

Wilkerson got the win in his first outing of the season, a 4-1 road victory over the Oklahoma City Dodgers. He pitched five innings and allowed one run on three hits with 10 strikeouts and one walk on April 7.

In his most recent outing, he got a no-decision in a 7-3 loss to the Nashville Sounds on April 12 at Wolff Stadium. Wilkerson pitched 6 1/3 shutout innings. He allowed two hits with two strikeouts and one walk.

    Zack Brown will go for his first win of the season tonight. He is the scheduled starting pitcher in the San Antonio Missions’ road game against the Memphis Redbirds (6:35 p.m. Central).

    Tonight’s game game will be Brown’s third start of the season, all in Triple-A. He didn’t get a decision in either of his first two starts. He has a 3.00 ERA with 10 strikeouts and three walks in 12.0 innings pitched.

    Last year Brown went 9-1 in Double-A Biloxi in 22 games, 21 starts.

    Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Jeremy Jeffress started his 2019 season with the San Antonio Missions.

    Jeffress spent time in Triple-A after experiencing shoulder issues in spring training.

    Jeffress appeared in four games with the Missions and pitched 4.1 innings. He gave up nine hits including three home runs and had a 14.54 ERA.

    Jeffress returned to Milwaukee on Monday and is expected to be activated off the injured list on Tuesday. The update on Jeffress’ status was reported by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

    As a reliever last season, Jeffress appeared in 73 games for the Brewers. He had an 8-1 record and a 1.29 ERA.

    The list included:

    Keston Hiura, infielder, No. 18, former 1st-round draft pick.

    Corey Ray, outfielder, No. 9, former 1st-round draft pick.

    Zack Brown, right-handed pitcher, No. 33, former 5th-round draft pick.

    All three spent time last season with the Milwaukee Brewers’ Double-A team in Biloxi, Miss.
